Mr. Marion Hampton, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at approximately 2:50 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home in Bluffton, Ohio.
Mr. Hampton was born in Valdosta, Georgia to Professor and Easter Wilder Hampton; both parents preceded him in death.
On March 19, 1948 he was united in holy matrimony to Betty J. Scott-Gunter, she survives in Bluffton, Ohio.
Mr. Hampton retired as a truck driver from the Allen County Sanitation Department. He was a member of Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God. He was the first Deacon of the Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God.
Besides his loving wife Betty, he leaves to cherish his precious memory; 2 sons; Hoke Hampton (Martha) of Florence, AL. Arthur Hampton of Lima. A daughter; Peggy J. Washington of Lima. 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchidren. 2 brothers; Johnny J. Hampton (Margaret) of Miami, FL and Hoke H. Hampton (Beatrice) of Valdosta, GA. A brother-in-law; Jack Scott (Beverlie) of Rock Hill, S.C. A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Leona Hampton Kerr and a Son-in-law; Charles “Tink” Washington. 2 sisters; Sarah F. Jones and Mary L. Clay. 5 brothers; Tommy L. Hampton, Paul H. Hampton, Dennis Hampton, Sr., Curtis Hampton, Sr. and Joseph Hampton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Ministries, with Pastor Damian Tibbs, Sr., officiating and Rev. Almeda Warren, eulogizing.
Visitation/Wake services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.
