Alberta Johnson, age 91, departed her earthly shell, heaven bound on, June 6, 2017 while residing in Frisco, TX.
Alberta “Bert” Johnson, was born on July 13, 1925 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the Jim and Lela (Beverly) Franklin. She was the eighth child born to this union. Bert professed Christ at an early age and attended local churches such as the Shady Grove Baptist Church. As a youth, Bert attended the Russell County School system.
In 1944 she met and married the love of her life, Johnnie “Coot” Johnson, whom precedes her in death. Coot and Bert departed Alabama shortly after being married and settled themselves in Lima, Ohio. Although Alberta was brought up in the Baptist church she moved to the Pentecostal church in 1958.
Alberta was employed by Westinghouse for eleven years, during and following those years at Westinghouse she became a worker for the Lord and won many souls to Christ. Desiring to further her education, Alberta enrolled in college and at age 81 received her degree.
Alberta “Bert”, is also preceded in death by six brothers; William, Uriah “Bob”, Eddie, Jimmy, Fred “Whamma, and Major “Buddyman”, four sisters Margaret “Mattie” Brown, Estelle “Stell” Slaughter, Lila B “B” Upshaw, Geraldine “Baby Lou” Franklin.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory a sister; “Candoll” McMahone of Detroit, MI; and one brother; Lawrence Franklin of Forty Myers, FL. A special cousin; Minnie Upshaw of Lima, her faithful friend and Professor; Mrs. Patricia Freeman of Lima, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Her message to them and friends is don’t worry she is now home with the Lord.
