Mr. Ulice “Tan” Manley, age 89, passed from this life on Monday, August 23, 2021 at approximately 11:45 p.m. at his residence in Lima.
He was born on July 4, 1932 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the union of Thomas J. and Willie Mae (Cooper) Manley, Sr.; both parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Manley retired from General Motors Corporation. He accepted Christ at he the age of 42. He became a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory 4 sons; Barry Geary (Delois) of Ft. Worth, TX. Keith Tobias of Atlanta, GA. Ulice Tobias, Broderick Tobias both of Lima. 6 daughters; Maxine Hubbard, Eartha Napier and Rosemary Hughes (Mark) all of Lima, OH. Marsha D. Upshaw of Hurtsboro, AL. Beatrice Davis of Detroit, MI. Lashanta Roberson (William) of Savannah, GA. 45 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. 4 brothers; Lindsey Manley, Depree Manley (Linda), Robert Manley, Sr. (Marva) and Rev. C. M. Manley all of Lima. 2 sisters; Ruby M. Brown of Lima and Ernestine James (Johnny) of Alabama. Special children of the heart; Otis Thomas, Willie Thomas (Lori), Carlton Thomas (TeQueta), Robert Tobias and Jennifer Thomas all of Lima. A special best friend; Percy “Ham” Nichols from Lima. A host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren; DeVontae Upshaw, Anthony Cloud and Robert Cloud, IV. 2 sisters; Bertha Smith and Celestine Owens. 9 brothers; Thomas Manley, Jr., Rozell Manley, Willie M. Manley, Aaron Manley, Joe Manley, Theodis Manley, Calvin J. Goode, Sr., Jack Manley and Johnny Manley.
Home going services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor C. M. Manley, officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at the Church.
