Theodis Battle, Sr.

Theodis Battle Sr was born on June 20, 1933, in Rutherford, Alabama to the union of Charlie Dillard and Mandy Battle.

Theodis attended the Shady Grove School system in Alabama, he accepted Christ and attended New Greater Grace Church in Lima, OH

In 1953 Theodis moved to Lima OH where he was employed by Ohio Laborer as a Construction worker.  He worked on the project, building The Lima Ohio Civic Center.  Theodis was united in holy matrimony to Sandra Faye Perryman on September 8, 1973.

Theodis In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time in his garden, going to the 28th Day of May in Alabama, and spending time with his family and friends.  Theodis relocated to Milwaukee, WI in 2020 when his health began to fail him.  Theodis would often let us know that “He was living his best life”.

Mr. Theodis Battle, age 90, passed from this life on Saturday October 7, at his residence in Milwaukee, WI at approximately 8:52 am with his son Jimmie and daughter-in-law Sharan who cared for him.  Theodis was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Faye Battle/ Father Charlie Dillard/ Mother Mandy Battle, Siblings, Lizzie Hines, Mittie Upshaw, Robert Woods, Mary Rogers, Lela, Dorothy, Howard Dillard, Jimmie, Eddie, and Sam Battle.

Theodis leaves to cherish his memories sons Jimmie (Sharan) Battle of Milwaukee, WI / Theodis Battle Jr. of Lima, OH/ Stepdaughter Samantha Bolden of Columbus, OH/ Grandson Jawaun (Bryce) Battle, Grand daughter Jada Battle of Milwaukee, WI and Kayonna Jones of Columbus, OH.  1 Great Grandson Jacobi Battle and 2 Great Granddaughters Kaypril and Kayah Skyers of Columbus, OH. Brother John (Sara) Woods of Chicago, IL/ Special niece: Ella B Benton, nephews:   Larry Peterson, Greg Long, Oscar Dixon, Eric Upshaw, Joe Upshaw, Anthony Thomas and Special friends Annie Marie White and “Depo”.  A host of other loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Home going services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Austin Lewis officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. also at the Funeral Home.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
