Mrs. Bertha Mae Smith, age 96, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at approximately 6:00 p.m. at her residence in Lima.
She was born on March 19, 1924 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the union of Thomas and Willie Mae (Cooper) Manley, Sr.; both parents preceded her in death.
On September 3, 1950 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Charlie Smith, he preceded her in death in 2007.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons; Edward C. Smith and Samuel Smith both of Lima. 5 daughters; Vivian Draper of Toledo, OH. Deborah M. Lane, Bernadine K. Shelby (Larry), Josephine James (Harry) and Gloria J. Evans (David) all of Lima. 37 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. 12 great-great grandchildren. 6 brothers; Lindsey Manley, Ulice Manley, Depree Manley, Robert Manley, George Manley and Rev. C. M. Manley. 3 sisters; Celestine Owens and Ruby Brown both of Lima. Ernestine Harris of Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a son; Michael Smith. A daughter; Minnie L. Manley. 8 brothers; Thomas Manley, Jr., Rozell Manley, Mack Manley, Aaron Manley, Joe Manley, Theodis Manley, Calvin Manley and Johnny Manley. 1 grandson, 2 granddaughters; 3 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters.
Home going services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church will Rev. C. M. Manley, officiating and Rev. Arnold Manley, eulogizing.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also the Church.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
