Mr. Joe Louis Harmon, Sr., age 85, passed from this life on Monday, September 20, 2021 at approximately 7:29 a.m. at Mercer Health-St. Rita’s Hospital.
He was born on May 8, 1936 in Russell County, Alabama to the union of Marion and Millie (Battle) Harmon; both parents preceded him in death.
He was united in holy matrimony to Opal Carletta Jennings; she survives in Lima.
Joe worked for Clark Equipment and Dana Corporation until his retirement. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 1765. Joe was a season ticket holder for the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns for many years. The Pittsburg Steelers became his favorite team; he also had a love for watching NASCAR racing.
Besides his dedicated wife Opal of 60 years, he leaves to cherish his precious memory; 3 sons; Joe L. Harmon, Jr. (Retta) of Indianapolis, IN. Adrian D. Harmon and Danny L. Harmon both of Lima. A daughter; Jacqulyn T. Harris (Robert) of Indianapolis, IN. 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A sister; Gladys M. Wright of Lima and a brother; Curtis Harmon (Valerie)of Indianapolis, IN. Two special friends; Ellis Allen and Ed Shine of Lima. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons; Donald Wayne Harmon and Dana Eugene Harmon. A daughter; Kimberly Elaine Gomillia. 2 brothers; Marion Harmon, Wesley Harmon, and a brother-in-law; John Wright.
Home going services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Tony Joiner, officiating
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. until time of services also the Funeral Home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
