Mattie Dillard Jones

Mattie Dillard Jones, age 92, passed from this life on Sunday night, August, 7, 2022 at Lost Creek Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.

She was born on March 28, 1930.  Mattie was the daughter of Lela Battle Dillard and Levie Dillard.  On November 27, 1971, she married Thomas Jones who also preceded her in death.

Madea attended Shady Grove Elementary School, Rebecca Comer High School, and Russell County Training School all in Alabama.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Theology at Northwestern Bible College in Lima, Ohio.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Maxine Dillard and one grandson, Darrick Dillard (Crystal) both of Lima, Ohio.  Three Great-granddaughters: Lavada, Imani and Akeyla all of Lima.  Three great-great-grandchildren: Isiah, Kennedy and Harlan all of Lima.  One sister, Lessie Long of Lima.  Two uncles: Theotis Battle of Wisconsin and Cullen Dillard of Lima. 

She was preceded in death by brothers Virgil Battle and Johnny Miggins, Sr. and a sister, Julia Battle Skinner Huston.

She was a proud member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church where she sojourned for many years. 

Home going services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Philippian M.B.C. with Rev. Dr. B. Lamont Monford officiating.

Visitation will be held at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Interment – Woodlawn Cemetery
