John Adams, Jr. Obituary
Mr. John Cooke Adams, Jr., age 80, passed from this life on Monday, March 22, 2021 at approximately 4:46 a.m. at Kindred Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
He was born on April 14, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama to the union John C. and Adeline (Russell) Adams, Sr.; both parents preceded him in death.
On November 17, 1962 he was united in holy matrimony to Charlene Elizabeth Lee; she survives in Lima.
Mr. Adams formerly worked at Mike Pruitt Auto Dealership and Ohio Steel Foundry. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Adams was the football Coach for the Cubs football team, basketball Coach for Whittier 5th and 6th graders. He was also a softball Coach and played softball for the Ohio Steel Foundry. He loved fishing, the Cleveland Browns and Michigan State.
Besides his loving wife Charlene, John leaves to cherish his precious memory 2 sons; Shann M. Adams (Andrea) of Cleveland, OH and Thomas L. Adams of Columbus, OH. 2 daughters; Lakita T. Walton and Sheila L. Green both of Lima. 12 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. 2 Godsons; Andre Reed (Kelly) and Christopher Jackson (Frenjula) both of Lima. A foster Goddaughter; Hazel V. Calhoun (Darrell) of Lima. 2 sons of the heart; Arthur Green, Jr. of Toledo, OH and Nathaniel Walton of Lima. A daughter of the Heart; Fatima Adams of Columbus, OH. A host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Raimon Adams and 2 sisters; Evelyn Tolbert and Alma Milligan. A nephew; Henry Tolbert, Jr.
Home going services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. John E. Kidd, officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery
