Jean Ann Houston passed away on February 8, 2022, at 1:56 a.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on November 15, 1935 in Lima, Ohio to Charles and Rosetta (Thomas) Beatty who preceded her in death. On July 18, 1954, she married Robert Lee Houston, who preceded her in death on March 14, 2017.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons; Jeffery Lynn Houston of Bern, Switzerland and Kevin Allen (Misty Sutton) of Lima, OH. One daughter; Tina Marie (Eugene) Houston-Lowe of Lima, OH. A brother; Calvin Welch of CA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and her best friend, Maggie Breaston.
She was preceded in death by two children; Shawn Lee Houston and Kimberly Ann Houston; and a brother; Charles “Eddie” Edward Beatty, Jr.
Jean was a 1954 graduate of Lima Central High School. She worked at Elder-Beerman in the Lima Mall for over ten years and then retired from International Brake. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where she was active in missionary work, evangelism and the choir. She was a member of Church Women United, receiving the 1991 Annie M. Jackson Pioneer Award for her contributions and leadership. She loved to cook, clean, read her Bible, pray, spend time with her family and listen to Gospel music. She had also been a teacher with STARS (Seniors Teaching and Reaching Students).
Home Going Services will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. John McCants, officiating.
