Obituary of James Edward Ward, Sr.

Mr. James Edward Ward, Sr., age 88, transitioned from this life on Monday, November 13, 2023 at his residence in Defiance, Ohio.  He was born on September 11, 1935 in Florence, AL to James Davis Ward and Mary Marie Hines.  Both parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Ward was a member of New Believers International Church.  He retired from General Motors Company. He loved to be around his family and friends.

James leaves to cherish his precious memory 3 sons:  James E. (Angela) Ward, Jr. of Defiance, OH; Ralph B. (Frances) Ward of NJ; and John M. Ward of Defiance, OH.  3 daughters:  Charlotte Savoy of GA; Pauline (Thadius) of San Diego, CA; and Felicia Harris of TN.  25 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2 great-great children.  2 brothers:  Eddie Hines, Jr. and Willie Hines and 1 sister:  Mary A. Hines.  A host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by 4 children:  Kim A. Ward, and Yvonne Lawrence, Vicent Ward, and Jacqueline Ward.

A Celebration of Life will be held at New Believers International Church in Defiance, OH on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 11:00 am.  A repass will follow the Celebration, also at the church.
