James Patton, 81 years of age, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Hospital.
James was born in his family home at 122 S Kenilworth St, Lima, Ohio on March 3, 1941 to Louis and Ella (Bone) Patton who preceded him in death. He attended Lima Senior High School where he met the love of his life, the former, Doris "Dottie" Faye Monford. He and Dottie were married in 1959. Dottie preceded James in death in March 2017.
James was a member of the Allen County Democratic Party where he served as a Precinct Committeeman and as a Central Committeeman for several years. James retired from Ford Motor Company with 32 years of service where he was a proud member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 1219. James often talked about the path the UAW members of his day paved for the current generations. James was a Red Cross Blood Donor. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Par Three Golf Club. He also enjoyed landscaping, history, finance, travel, painting and most of all his family.
James leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life and legacy, four daughters, Natasha (Tommy) Brown; Kendra Thomas; Tanya Patton and Monica (Robert) Hitchens. Eight grandchildren, James (Andrea) Patton, Sr., Thomas Brown, J. Mariah (Perry) Beidleman, Ashley Thomas, Brooke Thomas, Courtland Thomas, Lauren Hitchens and Robert "Trey" Hitchens, III; Six Great-Grandchildren, James "Jay" Patton, Jr., Jeremiah Brown, Jaylon Patton, Perry Beidleman, III, Kayden Beidleman, Natalie Beidleman and Brycen Thomas; a Sister, Ella Bryant of San Jose, CA; brothers and sisters in-laws; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. James will be greatly missed.
James is also predeceased by his brother Louis Patton and a sister Mary Banks.
