James Gene Hogue

Mr. James Gene Hogue, age 79, passed from this life on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at approximately  7:00 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born on May 31, 1941  in  Salisbury, North Carolina to the union of Vernon and Nancy (Barber) Hogue; both parents preceded him in death.                

On October 4, 1966 he was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy M. Collier  who preceded him in death on September 28, 2020.

Mr. Hogue retired as a Truck Driver for Bononai Trucking Company out of Tampa, Florida in 1969.  He loved cracking jokes, his Cadillac’s and spoiling his loved ones.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory 3 sons; Randy Towsend of Salisbury, NC.,  Jamy L. Hogue (Toionda) and Bill J. Barnett both of Lima.  5 daughters;  Deborah Cunningham (Sylvester) of Salisbury, NC., Kimberly Corbin of Cincinnati, OH, Natalie White of Columbus, OH.  Angela Erving (Jathon)  and Billie R. Barnett of Lima.  1 Goddaughter; Gwendolyn Southward of Lima.  12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.    2 sisters-law; Mary Hogue of Cleveland, NC and Johnnie Hogue of Salisbury, NC. A special niece; Velda Hogue Cowan.  A host nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by 6 brothers; Van Hogue, Walter Hogue, Ray Hogue, Charles Hogue, Ozzie Hogue and Will Hogue.  4 sisters; Ida Mae Sloan, Eva Mae Ivory, Robenia Barnett, and Pauline Copeland.  

Home Going Services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 5:00  p.m. Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.  with Rev. Julius Laws, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021  at Jones-Clark Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
