Evohn Thompson

Evohn Thompson, age 71, transitioned from this life on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 3:13 p.m. surrounded by her family at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.  She was born on July, 16, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio to Tommie Lee Roper, Sr. and Flora Bell Perkins Williams.  Both parents preceded her in death.

Evohn married Willie F. Thompson, Sr. on May 9, 1970.  He preceded her in death on July 5, 2020.   She was a homemaker and loved her family.  Evohn was a faithful member of Eleventh Street Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Pastor’s Aid, and the Mother’s Board.  She was a Pre-School advocate in the Lima City School.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons:  Demetrius (Tanya) Thompson, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL and Willie F. Thompson, Jr. of Lima, OH.  2 daughters:  LaVon Thompson (Ede) Ajah of Lima, OH and Yolonda (Roger) Bailey of Columbus, OH.  15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Thompson, Sr.; a daughter, Kimberly L. Thompson; a great grandson, Prince Yayon; a sister, Betty “Sis” Johnson; a brother, Calvin Johnson; a half-sister, Barbara Rhodes; 2 half-brothers:  Macklin Roper Bay and Tommie L. Roper, Jr. and a Godson, James Jones.  A host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Heartfelt remembrance of her grandson, Demetrius L. Thompson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. who was called home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2023.

Home Going Services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Eleventh Street Missionary Baptish Church, with Rev. James Bolling, officiating.

Visitation/Wake services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present 6-8 p.m. also at the Church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
