Estella Cooper Obituary

Mrs. Estella Cooper, age 83, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at approximately 10:18 a.m. at Kindred Hospital in Lima.

Mrs. Cooper aka  “Morning” was born on January 11, 1938 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the union of Walter and Addie (Howard) Johnson; both parents preceded her in death.

On November 26, 1960 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Frank Cooper, III; he preceded her death on November 24, 2020.

Mrs. Cooper earned a Bachelor’s  Degree from Kentucky State University. She worked at the Bradfield Community Center for many years and retired as the Recreation Director of the YWCA.  She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served on the Kitchen Ministry, Greeter’s Ministry and she started the Secret Sisters Ministry. In 2015 she was the Women of Service at Second Baptist Church. She was a member of the HyHo Club, Red Hatters, Mended Heart volunteer and the Lima School Board.  She was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and also the Cleveland Browns.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 daughters; Gwendolyn Cooper of Arlington, TX and Karen E. Griff of Lima, OH.  3 grandchildren; Karmen Miles (Landis), Veronica Griff and Katherine Griff.  6 great grandchildren; Camron Nicks, Dremon Macklin, LaMyla Miles,  Amarion Shurelds, Carmelo Yard and Amir Shurelds. A sister; Elizabeth West of Cleveland, OH.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son; Ronald C. Cooper.  A sister; Nancy Johnson and a brother; Andrew Johnson.

Home Going Services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 12:00 noon Second Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on,  Monday, August 23, 2021  at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
