Dougie Elizabeth Franklin

Ms. Dougie Elizabeth Franklin, age 87, passed from this life on Friday, September 10, 2021 at approximately 1:19 p.m. at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima.

She was born on July 29, 1934 in Madisonville, Kentucky to the union of Fred Douglas and Ada Elizabeth (Tolbert) Barbee; both parents also preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of  Rosenwald High in Madisonville, KY.  Ms. Franklin received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Tennessee State University; she also received a Master’s Degree in Education from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.  She taught at Hall Street Elementary School in Madisonville, Nortonville Elementary in Nortonville, KY and Rosenwald High School n Madisonville, KY.  She retired as a Teacher from the Lima City Schools where she taught at Garfield Elementary and Irving Elementary.  She was a member of First Church of God where she was a Sunday School Teacher.  Ms. Franklin was a member of Local and National Retired Teacher Association, United Way, The Minority Caucus of the Allen County Democratic Party.  She worked with voter registration and was a member of the Bradfield Community Center.  She loved going to the Casino, playing Bingo and hanging out for lunch and dinner with friends. She also loved to plant flowers.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons; Michel Franklin (Sylvia) of Sacramento CA and Keith Franklin of Henderson, KY.  3 grandchildren; Keith, Kelly and Jenny.   A sister; Shirley White Davis of Madisonville, KY.  Children of the Heart; Willie and Carolyn Tisdale of Lima. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation/Wake will be held on, Thursday, September, 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc., the family will be present  from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Home going services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Mason and Sons Funeral Home in Madisonville, Kentucky, with Rev. Robert Cottoner, officiating. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until time of services.

Interment:  Saturday, September 18, 2021 at  Odd Fellows Cemetery, Madisonville, Kentucky
