Darlene Lamar Obituary

           Mrs. Darlene Patricia Lamar, age 86, passed from this life on Monday, June 7, 2021 at approximately 9:34 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

           She was born on August 1, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Kermit Earl and Genevieve Katorya (McGruder) Bell, her father preceded her in death and her mother; Genevieve Katorya Johnson also preceded her in death.

On July 25, 1998 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Frank Lamar, Sr., he survives in Lima.

Mrs. Lamar retired from Ford Motor Company as a Ford UAW ERC after 29 years of service. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Committee and the Kitchen Committee.  She was a member of the Local UAW #1219, the Fraternal order of Eagles #370.  She was a member of the Allen County Democratic Central Committee and Perry Northwest Neighbor  Association.  Mrs. Lamar was an election poll worker for many years and she also volunteered at the Baton Rouge  Retirement Center.

Besides her loving husband Frank, she leaves to  cherish her precious memory 3 daughters; Saundra Grimes of Las Vegas, NV.  Joy Washington and Deborah Myles (Clinton) both of Columbus, OH. 3 step-sons; Frank J. Lamar, Jr., Ralph Lamar (Andrea) and Tracy Lamar all of Lima.  A step-daughter; Regina Lamar of Cincinnati, OH.  4 grandchildren,3 step-grandchildren,14 great-grand-children and 2 step-great-grandchildren. 1 half sister; Karan Bunch (Robert) of Troy, OH. 2 step-sisters; Lorraine Hudgins of Troy, OH and Vickie Evans (Curtis) of Huber Heights, OH.  A 1st cousin; Jeannie Davis of West Palm Beach, FL.  A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

 

Home Going Services will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Dennis Ward, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on, Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.

Interment – Woodlawn  Cemetery
