Mr. Bret DeVore, Jr., 40 passed away from this life on Tuesday July 6, 2021 at approximately 6:15 p.m. surrounded by his loving family in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on July 14, 1980 to Lavina Clegg and Bret DeVore, Sr. He is survived by his father Bret DeVore, Sr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his mother Lavina Clegg and maternal grandparents; Judy Marie and James DeVore, and Susan Lowery.
Mr. DeVore was considered an exceptional employee of Nationwide Insurance, as well as a constant contributor to the American Red Cross, a faithful fan of Ohio State and has always made Education a priority for himself as well as others. He wrote poetry, loved to read, loved music and playing basketball.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his loving wife LaTonya DeVore, 3 daughters; Laila B. DeVore, LaTaja A. Owens, LaToja R. Owens, 2 grandchildren: Airiana Owens, LaShonda R. Owens. Two brothers; Skyler DeVore of South Carolina and DeQuan DeVore of Columbus, Ohio. Five sisters; Talisa Clegg, LeeAnn Becker and Sherika Lawson of Columbus, Ohio , Alexis DeVore of South Carolina, and Jackie Stroud (Dijon) of Georgia. Mother-in-law; Barbara Owens of Columbus, Ohio, Father-in-law; Dale Owens of Lima, Ohio. A host of nieces & nephews, relatives & friends.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Bruce Monford, officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
