Ronnie "Pokey" Townsend

Mr. Ronnie “Pokey” Townsend, age 60, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018  at approximately 1:17 p.m.  at  Lima Memorial Hospital surrounded by loves ones and his special friend Stephanie Wash.

Mr.  Townsend was born on June 6, 1958   in Lima, Ohio to the union of Alphonso (Lefty) and Mary A. (Rogers) Townsend, Sr.; both parents preceded him in death.

Ronnie graduated from Perry High School, Class of 1976.  He loved sports and pitching horseshoes and playing golf.  Ronnie  retired as a Correctional Officer at Lima Correctional and Oakwood    Correctional.  He played semi-pro football.  He coached, football, softball and basketball, he also served as a referee.  He loved his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory 2 sons;  Jason Townsend Clark of Willoughby, OH and Ronnie A. Phillips of Lima.  2 daughters; Carmen Mack (Anthony) of Fayetteville, N.C. and Veronica Townsend of Lima.  11 grandchildren.  3 brothers; Elder Alex Townsend (Barb) and Ernest L. Townsend (Tina) both of Lima.  Richard A. Townsend (Annie) of Toledo, OH.  2 sisters; Teresa Baker and Kathryn “Penny” Kimbrough both of Lima. 

He was preceded in death by brothers; Alphonso Townsend, Jr., Frank Townsend and Dennis Townsend.

Services will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Jason Townsend Clark, officiating.

Visitation/Wake services begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m. also at the Funeral Home, Inc.
