Overseer Pastor Betty Jean Hampton, age 87, passed from this life on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at approximately 8:35 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

She was born on April 9, 1930 in Lima, Ohio to Arthur A. Mines and Mary Scott; both parents preceded her in death. 

She was united in holy matrimony on March 19, 1948 to Mr. Marion Hampton who preceded her in death on January 21, 2016.

She worked as a Domestic in private homes.  She was the former Pastor and overseer of Beulah-Chapel Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God.  She worked in the Prison Ministry. She was the overseer for Mt. Zion Holy Union Church of God having traveled many, many miles between Lima, Florida and other Locations.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons; Hoke Hampton (Martha) of Florence, AL and Arthur Hampton of Lima.  A daughter; Peggy J. Williams-Washington of Lima.  7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  A brother; Jack Scott (Beverly) of Rock Hill, N.C. A host of God-children.

She was preceded in death by a daughter; Leona Hampton Kerr.  A sister; Melverna Pickering and a brother; Eddie Pickering.

Home going services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Ministries with Overseer Almeda Warren, officiating.

Visitation/wake services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.  from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
