Margarette "Granny" Daniels

Mrs. Margarette “Granny” Daniels, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at approximately 7:55 p.m. at Springview Manor Nursing Home in Lima.
She was born on December 24, 1923 in Greenwood, Mississippi to the union of Bob and Mattie (Robinson) Petaway; both parents preceded her in death.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jesse Daniels, Sr.  who preceded her in death.

Margarette (Granny) Daniels migrated to Lima, Ohio from Greenwood, Mississippi in 1940 where she established the first black-owned record shop (Granny's) and used furniture store on Main Street.   She later moved to leasing management on Hope and Nova and then to food demonstration at the local grocery stores.  Granny was a faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church for 50+ years where she served as the head usher. She was also a life time member of Eastern Star.

Granny was the mother of 10 children; 6 survive her; Michael Bolden of Lima and Robert Bolden (Cynthia) of Phoenix, AZ.   Jessica Mae Daniels, Dorothy Parks and LaVerdia Duncan all of Lima.  Ora Lynn Scott of Hampton, VA.  She was preceded in death by 4 children; Jesse Daniels, Annie Sawmiller, Jason Winchester, Jr. and Vanessa Bolden.  She also leaves to cherish her precious memory  a granddaughter she raised; Nikita Bolden of Atlanta, GA.  31 grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren; 72 great-great grandchildren.  A sister; Annie Brown of Lima.

She was also preceded in death by; a sister;  Cynthia Lee Ware.  6 brothers; Carey Hollingshed, Oliver Petaway, Eddie Hollingshed, Robert Hollingshed, Josephus Petaway and Willie Petaway.

 Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Curtis, Jr., officiating.  Her son, Rev. Robert Bolden will be eulogizing.
