Jamal “Jay” “J-Bo” Jake Bowen 32, departed this life on Monday, March 25, 2019 at his residence in Whitehall, Ohio. He was born January 24, 1987 in Lima, Ohio to the union of Richard & Debra Ann (Thomas) Bowen.
Jamal was a provider, a strong, supportive, protective man, when it came to his loved ones. He was a go-getter, with drive & undeniable intellect & entrepreneurial sense. He was a successful business owner of JAN-PR0 Cleaning Company and Hamilton Carry-out in Columbus, Ohio.. He enjoyed spending quality time with his son. He was a very fashion forward guy that liked getting dressed in his best & going out on the town!
Jamal was a star scholar athlete in Division Football at LSH (2004-2005) which lead him to receive offers of acceptance into multiple colleges/universities. He ultimately committed to Ball State University on a full ride scholarship.
He left BSU in (2006) to become a devoted father to his one & only son, his personal superstar, Khaliq Rashad Bowen. He took pride in being a man & raising his little man....
Jamal was very involved in his son’s academics & athletic endeavors. He became an active football coach for teams in which his son played.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his son Khaliq Bowen, of Whitehall, Ohio, 2 brothers, Rickey R (Henrietta) Thomas of Reynoldsburg, OH and Sharrieff A (Misty) Thomas of Blacklick, OH, a special sister, Nicole Banks, 5 uncles; Stanley Bowen, David (Shelia) Bowen, Dwayne (Yolanda) Thomas, Anthony (Mai-ling) Thomas and Sam (Margie) Thomas. An aunt; Stefanie Thomas. 11 nieces, 4 nephews, a host of other relatives, friends & business associates.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents Richard & Debra Bowen, Maternal grandparents; Sam Thomas, Sr. and Natalie Heman, Paternal grandparents; David (Jake) and Rosa Lee Bowen Sr.
