Harvey L Capers

Rev. Harvey L. Capers, age 78, passed from this life on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at approximately 6:40 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on January 1, 1940, Hatchechubbee, Alabama to Florence Capers and Laura Mae Church; both parents preceded him in death.

On July 29, 1995 he was united in holy matrimony to Nellie Smith, she survives  in Lima.

Rev. Capers retired on  January 3, 2006 as a machine coordinator at Copeland Corporation in Sidney, Ohio.  He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Associate Pastor, superintendent of Sunday school and assisted with weekly Bible Study.    Rev. Capers loved to read the Bible, to work in his yard, to tell stories and to walk the trails at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park.

Besides his loving wife Nellie he leaves to cherish his precious memory, 2 sons; Ricky Capers and Wardell Brown both of Florida.  4 daughters; Mae Catherine Capers of Florida, Gloria (Nathan) Cunningham of Dayton, Karen Capers of Lima and Nickcole Tatum of Columbus, OH.  A stepson; Kevelin (Betty) Capers of Lima.  Stepdaughter; Kimberly Capers of Lima.  Many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  A brother; Bernard Capers of Florida.  A special Aunt; Odell Fearson of Hatchechubbee, Alabama.

Home going services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 12:00 p.m.  at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with  Rev. David Kelly, officiating.

Visitation/Wake will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m. also at the Church.

Interment:  Woodlawn Cemetery
