Anita Irene “Nini” Burden, age 92, passed from this life on Friday, April 7, 2017 at approximately 6:45 p.m. at Lost Creek Care Center in Lima.

She was born in Lima, Ohio on December 1, 1924 to the union of Royal E. and Leona O. (Jones) Cottman; both parents preceded her in death.

On November 12, 1941 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Sterling D. Burden, Sr., who preceded her death on April 9, 2003.

Mrs. Burden was a Homemaker and a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church.  She was a member of the Triangle Club, Silhouette Club, Senior Citizens of Lima, Red Hatter and Eastern Star Cyrene Chapter.  She loved genealogy and being around people.  She loved her family and truly was the matriarch of the family.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory 2 sons; Michael J. Burden (Rose) of Columbus, OH.  (Durrell) Sterling D. Burden, Jr. (Mary) of Northwood, OH.  2 daughters; Janice I. Black (James) of Kenton, OH and Garnet “Kay” Cook of Lima.  11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A foster sister; Shirley Miller of Columbus, OH.

She was preceded in death by a sister; Marguerite Small, 2 brothers; Royal F. Cottman and Ernest Cottman.  A son-in-law; Eugene Cook.

Home going services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. John E. Kidd, officiating.

Visitation/wake services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc.  from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Interment – Woodlawn Cemetery
