Alfreda Rose Ellen (Mines) Vaughn

March 18, 1950 ~ January 9, 2018 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Alfreda Rose Ellen (Mines) Vaughn passed from this life on January 9, 2018 at her home  in Orlando, Florida.

Alfreda Rose Ellen (Mines) Vaughn was born on March 18, 1950, the daughter of  Reverend Alfred Lester Mines and Mary Luella (Underwood) Mines in Lima, Ohio; both parents preceded her in death.

On June 17, 1967 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. William Harrison Vaughn, Jr., he survives in Orlando, Florida.

Alfreda graduated from Lima Sr. High School and Tiffin University (BA in Business Administration).

She was an accomplished finance professional, and was honored with many awards throughout her career, which began at Vistron Oil of Ohio.  Later, she transitioned to Ford Motor Company’s Lima Engine plant, where she spent the next 27 years.   She ended her career at Ford as a cost analyst, helping to reduce inventory and product expenses, saving millions of dollars.

After retiring from Ford in 2002, she and Harrison built their dream home and moved to Orlando, Florida.  Her love of finance called her back to A. Duda and Sons as their accountant, and finally to the Kennedy Space Center.  After working seven years at the Space Center assisting in the preparation and tracking of Space Shuttle launch budgets, she ended her career in 2015.

Her love for music and love for God were a perfect match while serving as a Piano Accompanist for St. Paul AME Church (Lima, OH).  She continued to develop her talent, and faithfully served for many years as the Choir Director and Organist at Second Baptist Church (Lima, OH).  She later served as Organist at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (Lima, OH).

She was active in many organizations throughout her life, including 4H, Horse Riding Clubs, Ford Girls Club, Rosemonte Women’s Club, Circle of Friends, Host of Orlando and others.  .  She served as The Enclaves HOA Treasurer for over five years, and mentored youth in a volunteer probation services program.  She also briefly became a professional weightlifter for power lifting, and at age 40, she won 1st place in a squatting competition.

Alfreda leaves to celebrate her life her husband, William Harrison Vaughn, Jr. (Orlando, FL); sister, Marilyn Yvonne (Mines) Clemons of Piqua, OH; one son, William Harrison Vaughn, III of Detroit, MI; two daughters, Angela Christine Vaughn of Orlando, FL and Alisha Marie Moss (Jelani) of Southfield, MI; two grandsons, Christopher William Vaughn (William, III), and Bakari Akil Moss (Jelani and Alisha); six nieces, Betty Lou Mines, Joyce Wilson, Darlene Deeble, Mary Lou Smith, Susan Christman, and Tonia Shobe; five nephews, Milton Mines, Jr, Alfred Mines, Clarence Mines, Jason Mines, and Keith Mines; along with a host of cherished family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Milton Gordon Mines, Sr.
