Obituary for James Lonzo Brown, Sr.
James Lonzo Brown, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10:35 a.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He was born on April 3, 1939 to Charlie Brown and Sylvia Lee Moore. Both parents preceded him in death. He was married to Ethel Lee Harrison. She preceded him in death.
James was employed at General Dynamics where he built tanks. He was the first African American police officer in Sidney, Ohio. James was an avid fisherman. He loved to cook and hunt.
He leaves to cherish his memory, 2 sons: Darryl D. Brown of Columbus, OH and James L. Brown, Jr. of Lima, OH. 1 daughter: Rosalind Brown of North Carolina. 3 brothers: Wilson Moore; Greg (Stacy) Moore; and Leon Moore; all of Lima, OH. 4 sisters-in-laws: Nora Shine; Mary Petty; Mildred Vaugh; and Vivian Cunningham; all of Lima, OH. Bonus sisters-in-laws: Geraldine (Willie) Green; Willa D. (Jake) Miles; and Clara McLin. 5 Grandchildren: Paris Brown; Stefone Brown; Elijah Brown; Kienna Brown; and James L. Brown, III. 1 Great-great Grandchild: Aria Brown. A God-daughter: Kaiwanna Green. Caregiver: Sara E. Lewis. A host of other family members and friends.
Home Going Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. David Kelly officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also at the Funeral Home.
