Mr. Charles Richard Thomas, age 83, passed from this life on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at approximately 8:50 a.m. at Kindred Hospital in Lima.

He was born on July 7, 1934 in Owensboro, Kentucky to James R. Thomas and Cassie Jackson; both parents preceded him in death.

He was united in holy matrimony on December 25, 2000  to Lillie Ruth Thomas  who survives in Lima, Ohio.

Mr. Thomas retired as an Electrician from Ford Motor Company.  He was a member of Grace Church Worldwide Ministries, N.A.A.C.P., V.F.W. Auxiliary 1275 and Local Union UAW #1274.

Besides his loving wife Lillie he leaves to cherish his precious memory 6 sons; Clifford Butler of Charlotte, NC, Timothy Thomas (Cheryl) of Las Vegas, NV, Edgar Skinner of Columbus, OH, Tony Williams of Cleveland, OH, Jamal Thomas of Columbus, OH and David Phillips of Memphis, TN. 3 daughters;  Barbae Avery of Lima.  Tamara Walker of St. Louis, MO and Mea Rasheed (Akeem) of Columbus, OH. 3 step-daughters; Laytonnia Bridges and Tralina Bridges both of Ft. Wayne, IN.  Tameka Bridges of Lima.  A stepson; Bryan Riley of Lima.  32 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. 2 sisters; Etta Southerland of Owensboro, KY and Emma J. Parker of Joliet, IL.  A special friend: Kamal Cameron of Ft. Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by 3 sons; Samuel C. “BeBop” Butler, Robert Butler and James R. Thomas, Jr.

Services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church Worldwide Ministries with Elder Ronald Fails, officiating and District Elder Tony Williams, eulogizing.

Visitation/wake services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Grace Church Worldwide Ministries from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
