I just learned of Alberta's death because the birthday card I had sent her was returned to me. I was her Religion professor at Ohio Northern University during the 1990s and early 2000s, and we became good friends. When I lived in Lima we used to visit lunch buffets together, and we had a great time on the day that Barack Obama was first elected to the presidency. Alberta was a wonderful spirit, and I'm happy to have had a chance to share some time with her.
